*WORDS OF WISDOM* - A ZEN-Story

  MASTER: 'THOU art THAT'!

 DISCIPLE: 'I am THAT'!

And that "THAT" is nothing but ONE`S OWN 'SELF' ( TRUTH- BEING-EXISTENCE-CONSCIOUSNESS and BLISS )- SWAATHMAARAAMAN

A 'ZEN'- STORY

A distraught man approached the Zen master.
"Please, Master, I feel lost, desperate. I don't know who I am.
Please, show me my true self!"

But the teacher just looked away without responding.

The man began to plead and beg, but still the master gave no reply.
Finally giving up in frustration, the man turned to leave.

At that moment the master called out to him by name.
"Yes!" the man said as he spun back around.

"There it is!" exclaimed the master.
*WORDS OF WISDOM*

"Can destiny (karma) ever come to an end?"

M.: The karmas carry the seeds of their own destruction in themselves.

('Talks with Sri Ramana Maharshi' 11 [15.5.1935])

*Glimpses of Self-Realization* - 'GOD'-'GURU'- and 'SELF' are, one and the same reality-'TRUTH'-'BEING''-'EXISTENCE'-'CONSCIOUSNESS and 'BLISS' ~ Swaathmaaraaman.

So long as duality persists in you the Guru is necessary. Because you identify yourself with the body you think the Guru, too, to be some body. You are not the body, nor is the Guru. You are the Self and so is the Guru. This knowledge is gained by what you call 'Self-Realization'.

*Glimpses of Self-Realization*- 'OSHO'

POINTS TO PONDER*- Tulsidas

Lord Ram gave Hanuman a quizzical look and said, "What are you, a monkey or a man?" Hanuman bowed his head reverently, folded his hands and said, "When I do not know who I am, I serve You and when I do know who I am, You and I are One."
~ Tulsidas

*WORDS OF WISDOM*- Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa

Once someone asked Sri Ramakrishna, 'Why can't we see God?'

He immediately covered his face with a towel and asked: 'Can you see my face? No. Because this towel is the barrier; yet I am seated in front of you. Similarly, remove the veil of ignorance, which is between you and God and you will see Him everywhere."

*POINTS TO PONDER* - 'SURRENDER- THE SETTLED CONCLUSION'- Bhagavan 'Ramana Maharshi':

When a man surrenders himself as a slave to the Divine Lord, he or she realizes at the end that all his or her actions are the actions of God.

He or she loses his or her mine-ness.

This is what is meant by doing the will of God.

This is the final view the settled conclusion.

'That which has a beginning must also end. Only when the ever-present consciousness is realized will it be permanent. Consciousness is indeed always with us. Everyone knows ‘I am!’ No one can deny his own being'.

*WORDS OF WISDOM*- 'Rishi Vasistha'

'Ramana Maharshi'
Just as a man, whose mind is preoccupied, is not aware of what is in front of him, so also the Sage, though engaged in work, is not the doer thereof, because his mind is immersed in the Self without the uprising of the ego. ~ Rishi Vasistha

*POINTS TO PONDER* Keep Your Windows of 'Self-Inquiry' open; Let the breeze of divine 'GRACE' come in ~ Swaathmaaraaman

DIVINE GRACE

From the book, 'Divine Grace Through Total Self-Surrender' by D. C. Desai, Bhagavan 'Ramana Maharshi' read out the following quotations by Paul Brunton for our benefit:

"Divine Grace is a manifestation of the cosmic free will in operation. It can alter the course of events in a mysterious manner through its own unknown laws, which are superior to all natural laws, and can modify the latter by interaction. It is the most powerful force in the universe.

"It descends and acts only when it is invoked by total self-surrender. It acts from within, because God resides in the Heart of all beings. Its whisper can be heard only in a mind purified by self-surrender and prayer.

"Rationalists laugh at it, and atheists scorn it, but it exists. It is a descent of God into the soul’s zone of awareness. It is a visitation of force unexpected and unpredictable. It is a voice spoken out of cosmic silence - It is ‘Cosmic Will which can perform authentic miracles under its own laws’."

*WORDS OF WISDOM* - 'Ramana Maharshi'

If we unceasingly investigate the form of the mind, we find there is no such thing as the mind. This is the direct path open to all~Ramana Maharshi

'Talks with Ramana Maharshi'

*WORDS OF WISDOM*

This body will not say “I.” In sleep, no one will say “I am not.” After the “I” rises, all rises. Inquire with a keen mind whence this “I” rises.
—Ramana Maharshi, Forty Verses on Existence (verse 23)

'Self-Realization' is nothing but shifting our attention from 'DEHOHAM ( I-AM the body consciousness) to 'BRAHMOHAM' ( I-AM pure consciousness); resulting in 'Sahaja-Samadhi' (Peace-Inherent) and 'Liberation-in-Life' ~ Swaathmaaraaman

Q: How can we root out the sex idea?
M: By rooting out the false idea of the body being the Self. There is no sex in the Self. Be the real Self, then there will be no trouble with sex.
~Ramana Maharshi
(From 'Conscious Immortality' Ch. 1.)

For the wise one who has known Self by diving within himself, there is nothing other than Self to be known. ~ Sri Ramana Maharshi

Bhagavan 'Ramana Maharshi' with a smile placed his little finger over his eye and said, “Look. This little finger covers the eye and prevents the whole world from being seen. In the same way this small mind covers the whole universe and prevents the Brahman from being seen. See how powerful it is!” (From 'Letters from Sri Ramanasramam' 22.01.1949)

*POINTS TO PONDER* - 'Ramana Maharshi'~ Is there any one not aware of the Self? Yet, they do not even like to hear of it.

People will not understand the bare and simple truth... the truth of their everyday, ever-present and eternal experience. That is the truth of the Self. Is there any one not aware of the Self? Yet, they do not even like to hear of it, whereas they are eager to know what lies beyond -- heaven and hell and reincarnation. Because they love mystery and not the plain truth, religions pamper them...only to bring them round to the Self in the end. Moreover, much as you may wander you must return ultimately to the Self; so why not abide in the Self here and now?

*WORDS OF WISDOM*- 'Liberation-in-Life' is nothing but constant abidance in one`s own 'SELF'~Swaathmaaraaman

Q.:What is the best of all religions? What is Bhagavan’s method?
B.:All methods and religions are the same.
Q.:But different methods are taught for attaining liberation.
B.:Why should you be liberated? Why not remain as you are now?

'Swosworoopaanusandhaanam- Bhakthirythyabhidheeyathe' (Devotion is nothing but introspective contemplation on one`s own 'SELF' or 'Truth-Being-Existence-Consciousness and Bliss) - 'Adi Sankaracharya'

In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna says that the devotee is higher than the yogi and that the means to Liberation is bhakti (devotion) in the form of continuous or prolonged meditation on the Self, which is the sole Reality. ~ Sri Ramana Maharshi

The great sages do not identify themselves with any particular religion or creed. They are above all such distinctions. They belong to the whole of humanity. ~ Swami Rama

*WORDS OF WISDOM* - And that bliss is nothing but 'PEACE-INHERENT' or 'Sahaja-Samadhi'- the 'ZERO STATION' of our 'BEING' beyond 'BECOMING' ~Swaathmaaraaman (one who revels in his own 'Self')

“Bliss is a thing which is always there and is not something which comes and goes. That which comes and goes is a creation of the mind and you should not worry about it.”

*WORDS OF WISDOM* When there is 'FREEDOM from THE KNOWN', then there is 'Self-Realization', 'Sahaja Samadhi' and 'Liberation-in-Life'~ Swaathmaaraaman

You are the knowledge ‘I am’. So if you want to worship, worship that knowledge ‘I am’. Be devoted to that ‘I am ness’ only. When you do that, other rituals become redundant and useless. Finally when you realize that everything is useless, everything is ‘Brahman’, it means you are at the ‘Parabrahman’ level, the absolute level. When at that level, you will envision everything as useless, including the ‘Brahman’ because the ‘Brahman’ is also
reduced to illusion. Therefore all these talks, including my own will be reduced to illusion when you reach the highest.

*POINTS TO PONDER* - 'TRUTH' is a 'PATH-LESS 'LAND'

Paths and movements cannot transport you into Reality, because their function is to enmesh you within the dimensions of knowledge, while the Reality prevails prior to it. To apprehend this, you must stay put at the source of your creation, at the beginning of the knowledge ‘I am’. So long as you do not achieve this, you will be entangled in the chains forged by your mind and get enmeshed in those of others.

*WORDS OF WISDOM*- 'NISARGADATTA MAHARAJ'

Dwell on the principle (‘I am’) of that state for a sufficiently long
time. All the greatness, significance and magnificence of the entire
world is dwelling in the principle ‘you are’ and ‘I am’ That is the
prop and that itself is the greatness. There is no other remedy, no
other path, except implicit faith and conviction in the Self.

NISARGADATTA MAHARAJ

*POINTS TO PONDER*- 'NISARGADATTA MAHARAJ'

Whatever is created is created by the knowledge ‘I am’. Do not
pursue this path of running after experiences. Your own
Consciousness creates everything. All greatness is because of the 'I am’. There is no other path, only this conviction. This is it! The
name and body arise from the ‘I am’.
